If you go down Nagarbhavi Airport Road, you’ll find us at 204C. Spoorthy Furniture & Mattress is a place where we keep a lot of stock squeezed into a small space. We have beds, cupboards, and rows of mattresses leaning against the walls. It smells like fresh wood and fabric in here. I spend a lot of time showing people how soft or firm a mattress is by having them sit on the edge. Choosing a bed is a big deal, so people usually take their time. The shop gets a bit dusty because the road outside is always busy with traffic and construction. I’m usually here with my cousin, and we do the heavy lifting ourselves. When someone buys something, we have to figure out how to get it onto the back of a truck without scratching the finish. It’s a lot of muscle work. We don't have a fancy website or a big marketing team; we just open the doors in the morning and wait for people to stop by. Sometimes it’s slow, and we just sit and talk about the neighborhood. Other times, three families come in at once and it’s a bit of a scramble. We’ve got some good wooden pieces that will last a long time. It’s just a regular local shop where we try to give people something decent for their homes. We close up when the sun goes down and head back to our families. It’s a long day.
