Our tannery is situated at 1-4-307 Bakaram. South India Prime Tannery Pvt Ltd has been operating here for quite some time. It’s a practical sort of place, focused on the heavy work of tanning leather. If you come by, you’ll notice the smell of the hides and the sound of the machines right away. It’s not the kind of job where you stay clean, but we don't mind getting our hands dirty. The building is an older one, and it has seen a lot of years of hard use. We have a small crew of workers who have been with us for years. They know the process inside and out. We aren't interested in being a big corporate name. We just want to process the leather right so it can be used for whatever comes next. Bakaram is a quiet enough area for us to get our work done without too many distractions. Some days are long, especially when we have a big load of skins to get through before they spoil. We just take it one pile at a time. Our office is just a small room with a desk and some old ledgers. We don't use fancy software for everything; a lot of it is still done the old-fashioned way. It’s a tough business, but it’s what we know how to do, and we’ve been doing it a long time now without much fuss.
