Our office and workshop for South India Linen Manufacturers Pvt. Ltd is on the first floor of number 8, John Avenue. It’s just off Manipal County Road in the Singasandra area, part of Begur Hobli. It’s a bit of a quiet spot compared to the main city, but we like it that way because it helps us focus on the tasks at hand. Inside, you’ll find rolls of fabric everywhere—mostly linen and cotton blends in different colors. There is always the sound of sewing machines humming in the background and the hiss of the heavy steam irons we use. We spend a lot of time checking the weave of the cloth and making sure the edges are straight before anything leaves the floor. It’s a small team, and most of us have been working with textiles for a long time, so we know how the fabric should behave under a needle. We don't have a big showroom; we mostly just have a small space where we show samples to people who come by to visit. The light in the morning is really good for checking the colors, so that’s when we do most of our final checks. Sometimes the delivery trucks have a hard time finding John Avenue because it’s a bit tucked away, but we usually just walk out to the main road to guide them in. It’s a simple business.
