Shyam Ferrous Ltd

Our place is located at Plot No 30 on Ganesha Temple Street in Kammanahalli. We are right there on the 3rd Main and 3rd Cross, not far from the Sukh Sagar Hotel. Dealing with ferrous metals means our yard is usually full of heavy scrap and iron pieces. It’s a lot of lifting and moving stuff with the crane or by hand. The ground is rough and there’s always a bit of rust around. We spend our days weighing materials and loading up trucks that come in from different parts of the city. It’s a busy street, especially with the temple nearby, so we have to be careful when the big lorries are backing in. We’ve been part of the Kammanahalli community for quite some time. The office is just a small room where we keep the records and handle the payments. It gets pretty hot during the day, so we usually take a break when the sun is at its peak. We don't have a corporate structure or anything like that. It’s just a few of us making sure the metal gets sorted and sent off to the foundries. Sometimes the scales need recalibrating and that takes up half the morning. It’s just regular daily business for us. We know the neighbors and the local shopkeepers well. We just do our work and go home when the gates close in the evening. It's a simple life but we keep busy enough with the metal coming through.
