Shridhar Tent House

We are over in Pillana Garden at Kudalwadi 1. Shridhar Tent House is what we call it. Basically, we have a big storage space full of poles, canvas, and chairs. When someone has a wedding or a big function, they call us. It’s heavy work. We spend a lot of time loading and unloading trucks. My back usually aches by the end of the week. We’ve been doing this for a long time. We know how to set things up even when the ground is uneven or the wind is blowing hard. The tents aren't brand new, but they are sturdy and they keep the rain off. We have different colors, though the red and white ones are the most popular. It’s a family thing. My cousins help out during the busy season when there are lots of festivals. We don't have a big office. Most of the business happens right there on the sidewalk or over the phone while we're driving. It’s a noisy business, lots of metal poles clanking together. We don't have a lot of rules, we just show up and do the job. Sometimes we finish late at night and just grab some food from the street vendors. It’s a busy life, especially during the wedding months. We’re just local guys providing what the neighborhood needs for their celebrations and making sure everyone has a place to sit and some shade during the hot day.
