Shri Amruth Upahar

Shri Amruth Upahar is located in Vijaya Nagar Sector 24 Chandigarh 17. It’s a bit different having a South Indian place in this part of town, but people seem to like it. The morning starts with the sound of the pressure cooker and the smell of sambar. We don’t have a lot of bells and whistles here. The walls are plain, and the menu is just the basics like idli, vada, and dosa. We try to keep the coffee hot and the chutney fresh. The kitchen is the busiest part of the whole building. We have a few cooks who have been with us since we opened. They know the timing for the dosa batter perfectly. Sometimes when it’s busy, people have to wait a bit for a table, but they don't seem to mind too much. We get a lot of students and office goers who want a quick meal that reminds them of home. The stainless steel plates get washed and dried all day long. We don't use fancy tablecloths or anything like that. It’s just a practical place to eat. The fans on the ceiling hum constantly to keep the air moving. We just keep our heads down and serve the food. It’s not about being the most popular spot, just about being a reliable one for the people in Sector 24. We stay open as long as there is batter in the kitchen.
