Shri Amman Steel & Alied Industries

Shri Amman Steel & Alied Industries is located at 38 Shanthi Road in the CP Tank area. The setup is a bit unusual because our main office is on the first floor, but we have a whole yard down in the basement. That is where we keep all the steel and the heavier items. It’s a bit of a climb up and down the stairs all day. The basement is cool and a bit damp, but it’s great for storage. The office upstairs is where we handle the billing and talk to customers. It is an old building, so the floorboards creak and the windows don't always close all the way. We have a lot of samples lying around on the desks. It’s a bit cluttered, to be honest. CP Tank is a very busy area, so there is always noise from the market and the vehicles outside. We don’t have any fancy mission statements or anything like that. We just sell steel and try to keep our inventory organized. Sometimes the elevator in the building doesn't work, so we have to carry things by hand. It’s hard work, especially in the heat. We’ve got a small team and we’ve been working together long enough that we don't need to explain things much. We just get on with the day’s work and close up when the yard is empty. Getting tea from the vendor downstairs is usually the last thing we do before locking up the main gates for the night.
