Cane Craft

Cane Craft is located at No. 47 in Richard’S Square. This is on Meenakshi Koil Street over in Shivaji Nagar. If you know the area, you know it’s always buzzing with people and traffic. Our shop is right in the middle of it all. We have stuff hanging from the ceiling and piled up along the walls. It’s a very tight squeeze once you get inside. There’s always a smell of raw materials and dust in the air. We’ve been in this square for a very long time. My family started this, and we just kept it going. We don’t use any fancy computers for our records; mostly just big ledgers and pens. The floor is concrete and a bit uneven in places. We have a few old stools for customers to sit on if they want to chat. It’s very loud outside with the market noises, so we keep the doors open to catch any breeze. Most of our work is done by hand right here in the back of the shop. You can hear the sounds of tools hitting the floor throughout the day. We don’t have a website or anything like that. People just find us by walking past or hearing about us from others. It’s a small, busy place, and that’s how we like it. We close up when the sun goes down.
