Shiva Seating Systems

Down here at Kamagondanahalli, near that 707 milestone in Thaltej, you’ll find us working away. Shiva Seating Systems isn't some big factory with machines doing everything. It’s mostly just us, some tools, and a lot of foam and fabric. We spend the day putting chairs together or fixing up old ones that people bring in when the springs start poking out. The shop floor is usually covered in bits of thread and staples. It gets quite loud when the drills are going, so we have to shout to hear each other. We’ve been at this spot for a while, and everyone around here knows where we are because of the chairs stacked up outside. The weather gets really dusty because of the road, so we’re always dusting off the finished pieces before someone comes to pick them up. It’s hard work on the back, bending over all day, but it’s what we do. Sometimes we get a big order and the whole place gets cramped, and other times it’s just one or two small stools to fix. We don't have a big sign or anything, just the work we do. There’s a tea stall nearby that we visit twice a day. It’s a basic life, making sure things are sturdy enough for people to sit on without any trouble for many years to come. We just keep our heads down and get the job done as best as we can.
