Shemy General Store

Shivaji Circle is always noisy, and we are right in the middle of it at No.83. Being near Sree Dandumariyamma Temple means there’s always people walking past, especially on festival days when the whole street gets packed. Our shop is a bit small for how busy Shivaji Nagar is, but we make it work somehow. We sell the basic things—shampoo sachets, bread, milk, and some of the local snacks that people like to grab on their way to the bus. The counter is usually covered in small jars of candy and loose change. It gets quite dusty with all the traffic outside, so we have to wipe things down constantly with an old cloth. The walls are painted a simple off-white that’s started to peel a bit in the corners, but nobody seems to mind. We aren't trying to be a supermarket or anything like that. It’s just a place to get what you need quickly without a fuss. Sometimes the temple music is so loud we have to shout a bit to hear the customers, but that’s just how it is living here. We’ve been at this spot for a while and have seen the circle change a lot over the years. It’s a fast-paced area, but inside the store, things move at their own steady rhythm. We just keep the door open and wait for the next person to walk in. It's a tiring job but it keeps us busy.
