Shashank Furniture & Electronics

If you walk down 9th Main Road in Chandra Layout, near Jaimunirao Circle, you’ll see Shashank Furniture & Electronics at number 8. It’s a bit of a squeeze inside because we try to fit as much as we can on the floor. We have sofas, wooden chairs, and cupboards pushed up against boxes of televisions and refrigerators. The smell of new wood and plastic packaging is always there. It’s a bit of a maze walking through the aisles. We try to keep it organized, but when a new shipment comes in, things get cluttered for a few days. We’ve had this spot for a while now. Most people from the neighborhood come to us when they need a new bed or maybe a mixer for the kitchen. We don't have those bright lights you see in big malls. It’s just a regular shop with some fans going to keep the air moving. Dealing with furniture is heavy work, so we’re usually a bit tired by the afternoon. We move things around a lot to show people how a chair feels or how big a fridge is. Sometimes we just sit on the stools near the counter and talk to the regulars who stop by to say hello. It's not a complicated business. We sell things that people need for their homes, and we try to give them a fair deal without any big sales pitches. It’s a local place for local people.
