Sharma Wood Works

Sharma Wood Works is tucked away at number 16 near Mekhri Circle. It’s a bit of a funny spot because the address says Electronic City but we are right here by the circle. The shop is usually covered in a thin layer of sawdust no matter how much we sweep. It’s just part of the work. I spend most of my time out back with the saws and the wood glue. We do a lot of different things, like fixing old chairs or making a new frame for someone’s door. It’s heavy work and my hands are usually pretty rough by the end of the week. People stop by to ask if we can cut a piece of plywood or maybe build a small cabinet. We don't have a big showroom or anything like that. It is mostly just the workshop and the tools hanging on the walls. Some of those tools I've had for twenty years and they still work better than the new stuff. The traffic outside the circle is always moving, but inside it’s just the sound of the machines. I have a couple of guys helping me out when the orders pile up. We try to get things done when we say we will, but sometimes the wood doesn't dry right or a machine breaks down. That’s just how it goes in a small shop. It’s honest work and I’ve been doing it a long time now. I like the smell of cedar and pine that stays in my clothes even after I go home.
