Sharavana Stores

We’ve got our store on H Siddaiah Road, specifically at Narayan Pillai Street in Shivaji Nagar 113. It is a very busy street, and things get pretty cramped inside the shop during the day. We sell a bit of everything, mostly stuff for the house. The shelves are packed right up to the ceiling, so sometimes we have to use a ladder to find what a customer wants. It’s a lot of manual work, moving boxes and checking stock every morning. My father started this place, and I’ve been here since I was a kid. It’s not a supermarket where everything is labeled perfectly. You usually have to ask us where something is. The floor is concrete and it’s seen a lot of feet over the years. We don’t have air conditioning, just some old ceiling fans that buzz a lot. Sometimes it gets a bit hot in the afternoons. Customers come here because they know we usually have that one specific part or item they can't find elsewhere. We talk to most people like they’re our neighbors, because many of them are. It’s a loud, busy environment with all the shouting from the street vendors outside. We just stay focused on our work and try to keep the inventory organized. It's a lot of long hours, but this is what we know how to do. There isn't much more to tell about it.
