Shanti Steels

Shanti Steels is located at 16 Kalipalayam, which is a bit out of the main city way. It’s an industrial sort of area, so you’ll hear a lot of noise from the nearby shops and the trucks moving up and down the road. Our place is basically a large shed where we keep all the steel rods, sheets, and pipes stacked up. It gets quite hot under the metal roof during the summer months, and we usually have a couple of fans going to keep the air moving. We don't have a fancy reception area or anything like that. If you come by, you’ll probably find us wearing our work clothes and covered in a bit of grit from handling the materials. We spend the day loading up orders and making sure the inventory is somewhat organized, though it's hard to keep things perfectly neat when dealing with heavy metal. Most of our visitors are local contractors or builders who need a few things for their current projects. We use an old weighing scale that’s been with us since we started, and it still works just fine. There’s no big sign with lights, just the number 16 on the gate. We don't spend much time on the computer, mostly just using it to print out the bills at the end of the day. It’s hard work and the days are long, but we’ve been doing this at Kalipalayam for years and we’re used to the rhythm of it by now.
