Shanthi Impex

Shanthi Impex is located on the 1st floor of a building on Gundo Panth Street, which is just off the main Avenue Road. If you’ve ever been to Avenue Road, you know it’s one of the most crowded places you can find. There are people, carts, and vehicles everywhere you look. Our place at number 37 is a bit like a sanctuary once you get off the street and up the stairs. We deal with various imports and exports, so there are always boxes being moved in and out. The stairs are a bit narrow, so carrying heavy items up to the first floor can be a real workout. We’ve been here for a long time, and the walls are covered with old calendars and notes from years ago. It’s a family-run kind of vibe, even though we have some regular staff who aren't related. We usually have the windows open to get some air, but that also brings in all the noise from the market below. We don't spend money on fancy decorations or expensive furniture. We have heavy wooden desks and metal filing cabinets that have been with us since the start. Most of our day is spent on the phone or checking lists. We know the other traders on Gundo Panth Street quite well, and there’s a lot of back-and-forth between the shops. It’s a busy, noisy, and very real way to spend a workday.
