Shankar Travels

Our shop is number 37 on South End Road in Basavanagudi. We are right near the Reliance Fresh, so there are always people walking by. It is a good spot for a travel business because it’s easy for anyone to find. Inside, it’s just a regular office with a few desks and some chairs for visitors. We spend a lot of our time on the phone or looking at schedules. Basavanagudi is a nice old part of town, and we’ve been here long enough to know most of the shortcuts. Our work is pretty simple, mostly just arranging cars and making sure drivers know where they are going. We don't have a big corporate structure. It is just a few of us handling the bookings. Sometimes the traffic on South End Road makes it hard to park, but that is just how it is in this part of the city. We keep a pot of tea going most of the afternoon. We aren't looking to become a giant company; we just like serving the people who live around here. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we are usually too busy to get around to it. We keep the logbooks on the counter and the car keys in the drawer. It’s a practical way to spend the day. Most of our regulars just drop by when they need a ride somewhere. It is honest work that keeps us moving from morning until we close up.
