The house is on Palace Road, specifically near Ghole Road and the Chalukya Hotel. It’s an easy place to find if you know the hotel. We’ve been running this paying guest accommodation for a while now. The building has several rooms, and we try to keep things as functional as possible for everyone living here. There’s a common area where people usually leave their shoes and bags. We spend a lot of our time making sure the kitchen is running and that the rooms are in good shape. It’s a lot of laundry and cleaning, to be honest. We have a schedule for the meals, and the smell of cooking usually fills the hallway around seven in the evening. The furniture is simple—just beds, some cupboards, and a few desks. It’s not a hotel, so it feels more like a regular home with more people in it. We have a small yard out front, though it’s mostly for parking a few two-wheelers. On the weekends, it gets a bit quieter as some people go home, which gives us a chance to do some deeper maintenance. We handle the bills and the keys from a small table near the entrance. It’s a busy life, looking after the needs of everyone under this roof. We aren’t a big corporation; it’s just us managing the daily needs of the house and the people who stay with us on Palace Road. Sometimes we sit on the front steps in the evening just to watch the traffic go by on Palace Road.
