Shaheen Colletions

This shop is at 24C, right across from the Bank of Baroda on Rustam Bagh Road. We are just off the Old Airport Road and near Brigade Road, so it is a pretty central area. There is always a lot of activity with people going to the bank or heading towards the main roads. Our shop has a variety of things we’ve collected to sell, mostly clothes and some fabrics. It is a bit of a jumble inside because we have so much stuff and not enough room to put it all out neatly. The shelves go all the way up to the ceiling, so we have to use a small wooden ladder to reach the things at the top. The ladder is a bit wobbly, so we have to be careful. The floor is concrete and we try to sweep it twice a day because of all the feet coming in. We have a small radio that we play sometimes, just low enough so it’s not annoying. The neighbors are nice, and we often exchange change for the cash register with the guy across the street. It’s not a high-end boutique or anything like that. It’s just a place where we sell things and try to make a living. Sometimes the rain leaks in a tiny bit under the door, so we keep a rag there. We just do our best to keep the shop running and help the people who stop by.
