Selvi Fabricators

Peenya is always noisy and that’s just how it is. Being over here in M V Lane, right by the Veerabharapa Compound, you hear the sounds from all the other shops too. We are right near that factory that makes wood speakers. Our place, Selvi Fabricators, is mostly just a big open space with all our tools and machines scattered around. It gets pretty hot in the afternoons when the sun hits the metal roof. We mostly deal with iron and steel, so there is always a lot of dust and the smell of cutting metal in the air. It’s hard work and your hands stay dirty most of the day. We’ve been at this spot for a long time. The lane is a bit narrow so when trucks come it’s a whole process to get them in and out. Most of the guys here have been working together for years. We eat lunch together in the corner where it’s a bit quieter. Sometimes customers come in with a drawing on a piece of paper and we have to figure out how to make it work. It’s not like those big corporate offices you see in the city. Here, it’s about getting the job done and hoping the machines don’t break down on a busy day. We just keep things moving along and try to finish the orders on time. It is a noisy, messy life but it is what we do.
