Santhosh Sea Foods

Our shop is on Nagarbhavi Main Road at number 196. Santhosh Sea Foods has been here for a good while now. If you walk by, you’ll definitely know we’re here because of the smell of the fresh catch. We get our deliveries very early in the morning, often while the streetlights are still on. We spend the first few hours of the day sorting everything onto the ice beds. It’s cold and wet work, and our boots are always soaked by lunchtime. We do a lot of cleaning and cutting right there behind the counter. We have a guy who comes by once a week to help with the sharpening, but mostly we do it ourselves. We have some regulars who come in every week, and we usually know exactly what they want before they even ask. It’s not a fancy place with a lot of decorations. We just have the tiled walls, the scales, and the display area. The floor needs to be washed down constantly to keep things tidy. Sometimes we have a lot of variety, and other days the catch is a bit smaller, it just depends on what comes in from the coast. We don't spend much time on anything other than the fish and the customers. It’s a straightforward business. We keep our knives sharp and the ice fresh. By the end of the day, we’re usually pretty tired.
