If you head over to Mangal Corner in Gnanajyothi Nagar, you’ll find us at number 41365. We’ve got a lot of steel sitting here, from long rods to heavy plates. It is a heavy business, literally. Most of the time we’re busy loading or unloading trucks that pull up right at the corner. It can get a bit hectic when two or three come at once. The yard isn't fancy, just a lot of metal stacked up in different sections so we can find what we need quickly. My clothes usually have a bit of rust on them by lunch, and the smell of iron is everywhere. We get contractors and builders stopping by mostly, looking for specific sizes for their projects. We don't do much talking; we just get the measurements, cut the steel if needed, and help get it onto the vehicle. Gnanajyothi Nagar has grown a lot, so there is always some construction happening nearby. We try to keep our inventory organized, but with so much steel moving in and out, it is a constant job. The sun beats down on the metal, making it very hot to touch in the afternoons, so we wear thick gloves. It is a straightforward trade. We provide the steel, and the customers build the houses or whatever else they are working on. We have stayed at this spot because it is easy for the big trucks to reach and the corner space gives us enough room to stack the longer beams safely.
