Sahara Stores

Sahara Stores has been a part of Austin Town in Bangalore for quite some time now. This city moves fast, but inside our four walls, things feel a bit slower. I spend my time making sure the shelves don't look too empty. It’s a challenge sometimes because the space is narrow and the stock keeps coming. We have all the regular household items you’d expect. I don’t use any big marketing tricks; I just open the door and wait for the regulars. Some people have been coming here since I was a young man. We talk about the old Bangalore and how much the traffic has grown outside. The shop gets a lot of light in the morning, which is my favorite time to sit and drink my coffee. I keep a close eye on what people are asking for so I can order it for the next week. It’s a lot of lifting and moving boxes, which keeps me moving. My back aches sometimes, but that’s part of the job. I don't have a big staff, just a couple of us helping out. We know the names of the dogs that wander by and which neighbor is currently out of town. It’s that kind of place. We aren't trying to compete with the big malls. We just provide a steady spot for the people living nearby to pick up their daily essentials without having to travel too far.
