Sabari Steels Pvt. Ltd. is located at 99/2 in the New Timber Yard area on Mysore Road. Even though the name says Timber Yard, there’s a lot of steel moving through here. Mysore Road is always packed with traffic, so we hear the honking all day long. We have a big open space where we keep the stock. It’s mostly beams, rods, and different types of steel sections. Working here means you get used to the sound of metal clanging together. We have a crane for the heavy stuff, but a lot of it is still done by hand. The sun gets really hot on the metal in the afternoon. We have a small office where we handle the paperwork and the billing. It’s a local business, so we know a lot of the contractors who come in. We don’t do much fancy talk; we just tell them what we have in stock and what the price is today. Sometimes we run low on certain items and have to wait for the next shipment to arrive from the mills. The yard gets muddy when it rains, which makes moving the trucks a bit of a pain. We’ve been at this spot for years and don’t plan on moving. It’s a basic operation, but it keeps us busy from Monday to Saturday. Most of us have worked here long enough to know where every single piece of steel is kept. We just keep our heads down and get the loading done.
