S M S Telecom is based in Bommanahalli at 112/1. It’s a small shop right on a busy stretch where there are always people walking by. We handle a lot of things related to phones, like SIM cards, recharges, and small repairs that people need in a hurry. The shop is quite narrow, so we have to make use of every inch of wall space for our stock. Bommanahalli is always moving, with a lot of trucks and bikes passing the door at 112/1. It gets pretty dusty, so we spend a fair amount of time wiping down the counters. We aren't a big chain store with uniforms and scripts. We just talk to people normally and try to help them find a cheap plan or fix a cracked screen. Most of the people who come in are locals who live just a few streets away. We know a lot of them by name now. It’s a lot of repetitive work, like typing in numbers or peeling off screen protectors, but it keeps us going. Sometimes the rain comes down hard and people crowd into the doorway to stay dry, which we don't mind. We don't have any fancy mission statements or goals. We just open up in the morning, do our best with the customers, and close up when the sun goes down. It’s a simple life at the shop, and we’re used to the noise and the pace.
