S L V Steel & Cement Agencies

We run S L V Steel & Cement Agencies out of a yard at 1552 HSR Layout. We are located in Sector 34 A, right near the BTS Bus Dipo. It is a very dusty business because of all the cement bags being moved around by hand. You can hear the buses coming and going from the depot all day long. We spend most of our time coordinating with truck drivers and making sure the steel rods are stacked properly so they don't fall over. It’s heavy work and my clothes usually have a layer of grey dust on them by the time I go home in the evening. The office is just a small room at the edge of the yard with a metal desk and a heavy safe. We don't have fancy brochures or a glossy storefront. People come to us because they are building something nearby in HSR Layout and they need materials. We sit outside on plastic chairs when the weather is nice, watching the traffic go by. Sometimes the delivery trucks get blocked by the buses, which causes a bit of a shouting match, but that’s just part of the job. Sector 34 A is a growing area, so there is always some construction happening. We keep the ledger books by hand mostly, though we have a computer for the official stuff. It’s a straightforward way to make a living, dealing with basic things like steel and cement.
