You can find S L V Rice Trading at 1391, on 13th Cross in the 3rd Block of Vishwa Priya Nagar. We’re just off Begur Road. The shop is basically a large room filled with sacks of different kinds of rice. You can smell the grain as soon as you walk in. We spend our days weighing out bags and showing samples to customers. It’s a simple business. We get the rice from local mills and sell it to the families around here. My father started this, and now I’m the one mostly running the show. We have a small scale that we use for the loose rice and a bigger one for the 25kg bags. The floor is always a bit dusty from the grain, but we sweep it out every evening. It’s not a supermarket; we don't have carts or aisles. You just tell us what you need and we haul it out for you. Begur Road has gotten very busy lately, so there’s always the sound of horns in the background. We have our regulars who have been buying from us for a decade. They know we’ll give them the same quality every time. We don't do any fancy marketing or discounts. We just sell good rice. Sometimes the delivery truck gets stuck in the narrow cross-streets, which is a headache, but we deal with it. It’s just a neighborhood rice shop. We keep a small notebook for regular customers who pay at the end of the month.
