S L N S Paying Guest & Mess

Running the S L N S Paying Guest & Mess near Dr Ambedkar Engineering College is always interesting. Since we are in Nagarabhavi Nauka C H S, we get a lot of students and young guys working nearby. The building is right on S V P Road, so it's easy for the boys to walk to their classes or to the bus stop. It’s a lively place, especially during mealtimes when the mess gets crowded. I spend most of my day in the kitchen or checking on the rooms. The food we serve is just regular home-style cooking, nothing fancy. We make sure there's enough rice and sambar for everyone to feel full. The rooms are basic, with beds and a place for students to keep their books. It can get a bit noisy when the exams are over and everyone is finally relaxing. I try to keep things orderly, but with twenty young men in one house, it’s a bit of a challenge. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we haven't found the time yet. We provide a place to sleep and a hot meal, which is what most of these guys need. My wife helps out with the cooking and the accounts. We treat the residents like they’re part of the family, even when they forget to turn off the lights. It’s a busy life, waking up early to start the stove and staying up late to make sure everyone is back safe. We just take it day by day and hope for the best.
