If you know Peenya, you know it’s a massive place for manufacturing. S. K. Modi Steel Mill Pvt. Ltd. is located in the 1st Phase, on the 2nd Cross, at number 2. It’s a very industrial setting with lots of other mills and factories nearby. The air usually smells like metal and oil, which is just part of the job for us. We have a decent-sized space here, which we need for all the steel we handle. It’s a lot of heavy lifting and noisy machines, but that’s what a steel mill is supposed to be. We don't try to make the place look like an office. It’s a working mill, through and through. Our staff has been with us for a long time, and we all just know our roles without needing much instruction. We don't have big company parties or anything like that. We just work. When people come to see us, they usually have to shout a bit over the noise of the machines. We like being in Peenya because everything we need is right here. There are suppliers and transport services all around us. It’s a tough environment, especially when it gets hot in the summer, but it’s where we belong. We don't have any grand claims about our history. We just opened up shop and kept going. Every day we just try to get the steel out the door. The trucks are always lined up outside waiting to be loaded.
