If you're walking down Dinur Main Road in RT Nagar, you've probably passed Reddy Furniture plenty of times. We’ve got a lot of wood and different pieces squeezed into the shop, so it’s a bit of a tight fit if you come in with a few people. It’s a bit dusty, which comes with the territory when you’re dealing with furniture all day. My brother and I usually handle everything ourselves, from moving the heavy tables to talking to anyone who wanders in. We don’t really do the whole internet thing or fancy ads, we just rely on people knowing where we are. The rent keeps going up in this part of town, but we’re hanging on. Sometimes the deliveries get delayed because the truck can't find a place to park on the main road, which is always a mess. We just try to make stuff that lasts long enough so people don't have to come back next year with broken chairs. We have some old catalogs you can look at, or you can just show us a picture of what you want. It's a plain shop with no air conditioning, so it gets a bit warm in the afternoons. We aren't trying to be the biggest store in the city, just trying to keep the business going one piece at a time. The neighbors sometimes drop in just to chat while we work, which makes the long days feel a little bit shorter.
