Royal Tent Works

Royal Tent Works operates out of Jaya Chamarajendra Road, over in the Gidc Estate area near Makarpura industrial estate in Vadodara. Our specific spot is at 27, 1st Cross in the Fire Works Colony. It is a large, dusty area because we deal with a lot of heavy outdoor equipment. We have stacks of heavy cloth, thick ropes, and iron frames that take up a lot of room. The industrial estate is always full of noise from other businesses, so it’s never really quiet here. We spend a lot of our time loading things onto trucks and making sure all the pieces of a tent are accounted for. The work is physically demanding and usually leaves us pretty tired by the end of the shift. Our office is just a small cabin with a ceiling fan that doesn't do much against the heat. We have some old ledgers and a lot of keys hanging on the wall. The ground is mostly hard-packed dirt and gravel, which gets everywhere when the wind picks up. It’s not a place for looking neat; we usually have grease or dust on our hands. We’ve been in this part of Vadodara for a long time now, and we know the layout of the colony like the back of our hands. We just focus on getting the tents ready for whoever needs them. Most days are long and we end up going home tired.
