Richmond General Stores

Richmond General Stores is over at 2 Louis Belle, which is right opposite the Shiv Sagar Hotel in Doddanakundi. The address says Marathahalli Outer Ring Road and Bandra West, which sounds a bit confusing, but we are right here in the mix of things. It’s a busy spot because of the hotel and the traffic coming off the ring road. We keep a wide range of stuff because we get all kinds of people walking in. Some are travelers from the hotel needing a toothbrush, and others are locals getting their monthly groceries. The shop is packed from floor to ceiling. We have to be careful when pulling things down so nothing falls. It’s a bit of a squeeze inside. We don't have air conditioning, so the doors stay wide open most of the time. We hear the honking of the cars all day long. My brother and I take turns sitting at the counter. We use old cardboard boxes to organize the small items like batteries or pens. It’s a very practical way of doing things. We don’t have a website or anything like that. People just know us because they see the shop when they go to Shiv Sagar. We try to keep the milk and bread fresh every morning. It’s a lot of work to manage the inventory, but we have a system that works for us. We just want to make sure the locals have what they need for their houses.
