Raja Steel & Home Appliances is situated in Sanjay Nagar near Mojura Gate 2. If you walk past, you will probably hear the sound of metal clicking or someone testing out a new mixer. We have stacks of steel plates and tiffins that go all the way up to the ceiling, and sometimes it feels like a maze in here. The shop gets quite hot in the summer because of the way the sun hits the front window, so we keep the ceiling fans going at full speed all day long. We have been at this spot for quite some time, and people know they can come to us when their cooker handle breaks or they need a new bucket. The floor is concrete and has some scratches from moving the heavy appliances around, but it is a sturdy place. We spend a lot of time dusting the shelves because the road outside is busy and the dust just comes right in. My cousin helps with the repairs in the back corner where we have all the tools spread out on an old workbench. We don't have any fancy displays or bright lights, just the regular stuff people use in their kitchens every day. It is a straightforward business where we talk to the customers, show them the different sizes of steel pots, and wrap everything up in old newspaper. It is just how we have always done things here in Sanjay Nagar.
