Prince Steels & Scrap Market

Located over at 5 Padarayanapura GIDC Estate, right near the railway gate, is where we keep the scrap yard. It’s a busy spot and you can always hear the trains passing by quite loudly. We deal in all kinds of steel and metal scrap that people and factories don't want anymore. The yard is usually filled with piles of iron rods, old sheets, and bits of aluminum. It’s a messy place, to be honest, and my clothes are always covered in rust by the end of the day. We have a large scale near the entrance where we weigh everything that comes in on the trucks. It’s a family business and we've been in the GIDC estate for many years now. People bring us everything from old pipes to broken machinery. We sort it all out by hand and stack it according to what it is. It’s hard manual labor and it can get very hot out under the sun, but it’s what we know how to do. You learn a lot about different types of metal just by looking at them after a while. The neighborhood is always full of activity and there is a lot of shouting and honking from the trucks trying to get through the narrow gates. It isn't a glamorous job by any means, but someone has to do the work of recycling all this old metal so it can be used again.
