I’ve been running Prem Automobiles in Banashankari 1st Stage for quite a while now. The shop is tucked away at number 41508, and it’s usually pretty busy with cars coming in and out of the small driveway. Most days, I’m covered in a bit of oil or grease because there is always something that needs fixing on a local vehicle. It’s not a fancy showroom with glass walls or air conditioning. We just have our tools, some spare parts stacked on the metal shelves, and a couple of stools for people to sit on while they wait for their oil change. The neighborhood has changed a lot since we first opened, but the cars still break down just the same. Sometimes the traffic outside gets really loud, especially in the evenings, but you get used to it after a few years. We deal with all sorts of engine problems and general maintenance. It’s a lot of manual work, lifting heavy things and trying to figure out why a noise won't go away. My hands are rarely clean by lunch time. We don't spend much time on the computer or doing paperwork unless it's necessary for the bills. Most of our day is spent under a hood or looking at tires. If you walk past, you'll probably see a few old car batteries sitting near the entrance and some oil stains on the pavement. It’s just a normal local garage where we try to get things back on the road.
