Precision Perforators

We’ve been running things here at No. 105 in the Selvam Industrial Estate for quite a long time now. If you head down Magadi Road, you’ll find us easily enough among all the other workshops. Most of our days are spent dealing with metal sheets. We do a lot of perforating, which just means we spend hours punching holes into various materials. It’s loud work and the machines need a lot of looking after to keep them going straight. The floor is usually covered in little bits of scrap metal by the end of the shift. It’s not the cleanest job in the world, but it’s what we know. My brother and I took over from the previous owners, and we just kept the same pace. We don't have a big office or anything fancy, just a small desk in the corner where we keep the invoices and have our tea. Sometimes the power goes out in the estate and we have to wait it out, chatting with the guys from the unit next door. We get jobs from all over, some big orders for filters and others just small custom bits for local builders. It’s just us doing the work day in and day out, making sure the holes are where they should be. We don’t spend much time on computers unless we have to. Most of the time we’re just out on the floor making sure the presses are lined up right. It’s a lot of manual work and we go home tired every day.
