Down in Sultanpet at 170/6, you’ll find Prabhu Trading Company. If you know Sultanpet, you know how tight the streets are. It’s a struggle to get a cart through sometimes, let alone a big truck. We’ve been operating from this spot for a good while. Our shop is filled with stacks of items. We trade in things that people need for their own businesses. Most of our day is spent counting stock or writing out bills on a small desk. It’s not glamorous work, but it’s what we know. The air in the shop always smells a bit like paper and old boxes. We have customers who have been buying from us since we first opened. They like that we are easy to talk to and don't put on any acts. We don’t have a website or anything like that. People just know where 170/6 is and they show up. When it rains, the water flows down the street and we have to make sure the goods stay dry. It’s a constant effort to keep everything organized in such a small space. We usually have lunch right there at the counter. It’s a busy life but we enjoy being part of the Sultanpet market. We just keep trading and moving forward one day at a time, looking at the same four walls and the same faces.
