Pai Refreshments

Pai Refreshments is right there on Seshadri Road in Gandhi Nagar, at 26/1. It’s a very busy street with a lot of people walking by all the time because of the nearby colleges and offices. We open up pretty early to catch the people headed to the bus stop or the station. The coffee machine is always going, and there's a constant clinking of spoons against glass. It gets very loud during the morning rush, and sometimes we have to shout to hear each other over the traffic noise outside. We don't have a lot of space for people to linger, so most customers just stand, drink their tea, and move on. The floor gets dirty pretty fast with all the foot traffic, so someone is always sweeping. We’ve had the same kitchen staff for a few years now, and they can handle the rush pretty well. We don't bother with fancy decorations or anything. The walls could probably use a new coat of paint, but we are too busy to shut down for even a day. It’s a simple place where you get what you see. We deal with a lot of different people every day, from students to lawyers. It’s interesting to see everyone passing through Gandhi Nagar. We just keep the snacks ready and the tea hot. That’s how we’ve always done it at number 26/1. Sometimes the milk delivery is late and we have to wait, but that's life.
