Padmavathi Distributors is located at 111/4 in Bangalore City. It’s a place that is mostly about moving boxes and keeping track of what’s coming in and what’s going out. We have stacks of cartons piled up high, almost reaching the ceiling in some parts of the warehouse. It’s a bit of a maze if you don’t know your way around. The air usually smells like cardboard and tape. I spend a good chunk of my morning checking lists against what’s actually on the pallets. The clipboard is my constant companion. It’s not the most exciting work, but there’s a satisfaction in seeing a full truck leave the loading dock on time. The floor is concrete and it’s seen a lot of wear over the years. We have some old fans that move the air around, but it still gets warm when the sun is high. Sometimes the tape dispenser breaks and we have to fix it with a bit of wire. It’s those little things that happen every day. Most of the guys here have been working together for a long time, so we don’t need to say much to get the job done. We just know the routine. At the end of the day, when the shutters go down, the silence in the warehouse feels pretty good. It’s just a solid, honest day of work in the middle of the city. We keep it moving.
