Padam Jewelery & Telecom

Our shop, Padam Jewelery & Telecom, is located on the Nagawara Main Road at 100/7. It’s a bit of an unusual combination, I suppose, having jewelry and mobile stuff in the same place. One side of the shop has the glass cases with the gold and silver, and the other side is where we deal with the phones and recharges. It’s a family-run thing, so there’s usually someone from the house sitting here. Nagawara is a very busy area these days with all the new buildings and the traffic going towards the airport. We get all sorts of people coming in—some looking for a small gift for a wedding and others just wanting to fix their cracked phone screen. The shop is bright because of the jewelry lights, but it’s quite small once you get a few people inside. We often have the radio playing in the background to fill the silence. Sometimes the kids come by after school and sit in the back. It’s not a corporate setup at all; it’s just our livelihood. We’ve seen the road outside grow from a small path to this big busy main road. We just keep doing our thing, helping neighbors with their various needs, whether it's a piece of jewelry or a mobile top-up. It’s a long day from morning to night, but we’re used to it. We just take things one customer at a time.
