Our shop, P M Bankers & Jewellers, is tucked away in Taverekere 7th Main. Specifically, we are at 15th Cross, 2nd Stage 11. It is a solid building and we have been here for a long time. People come in with their jewelry or because they need some help with money. It is a serious business so we keep things quiet and professional inside. We have these old glass counters where we show the pieces and a heavy safe in the back that we check every single night. The scales are kept clean and we spend a lot of time double-checking numbers. It’s not a big fancy showroom with carpets and air conditioning running all day. It’s just a regular local shop where people feel okay walking in. Sometimes neighbors stop by just to say hello while they are out getting their vegetables. We have a small bench for customers to sit on. The clock on the wall ticks quite loud when it is quiet in the afternoon. We don’t do a lot of advertising because word of mouth in Taverekere seems to work better for us. It’s a steady kind of life, watching the gold prices and talking to the regulars who have been coming to us for years. We keep the ledger books neat and try to stay organized even when it gets a bit crowded on Saturdays.
