Our office is out at the 15th Mile Stone on Bannerghatta Road, right near the Rai Business School. It is quite a trek from the center of Bangalore, so most of us spend a lot of time on the road every morning. The area around Gottigere is always busy with construction and trucks moving past. We share the building space, and it’s a pretty standard setup with rows of desks and a few small rooms for meetings. It’s not the kind of place with a gym or a cafeteria, but we have a small area where we can heat up our lunch. Sometimes the dust from the road makes its way inside, so we are always cleaning the monitors. Working here means getting used to the noise of the traffic outside. We do a lot of work for the main company, mostly handling data and keeping things running in the background. It’s not very exciting to look at, just people on computers doing their daily tasks. We often go out to the small shops nearby to get some fresh air and a quick snack during the afternoon slump. The power goes out once in a while, but the backup usually kicks in after a minute of silence. It is just a regular workplace where we try to get through our lists before it is time to face the traffic again. Some days the commute takes two hours, which is the hardest part.
