Omkar Grain & General Store

We've been here on 8th Cross for a while now. Most people know us because we're right on Temple Road, near Dhobi Street. It’s a busy spot but we like the pace. Dealing with grains is what we do mostly, though there's a lot of other small things on the shelves too. The morning rush usually starts early. Folks coming in for their daily stuff before heading to work or the temple. We keep things pretty simple here. If you need rice or lentils, we have different kinds depending on what’s arrived recently. It’s not a big fancy place. Just a regular store where you can get your kitchen essentials. The bags of grain take up a lot of space, but that's how it is. We try to keep things organized but sometimes it gets a bit crowded when the new stock comes in. Sometimes the weather makes the street a bit messy, but customers still find their way to us. We’ve seen the neighborhood change quite a bit over the years. Some families have been buying from us since we first opened the doors. It’s nice to see familiar faces every day. We don't really do much advertising or anything. People just know where we are. If you’re walking down Dhobi Street, you’ll see the sign. It’s a practical setup. We just focus on keeping the shelves stocked and the floors swept when we have a minute. That's pretty much the whole story of this shop.
