We are tucked away in Malleshwaram at 135/2. It’s a small space, but we manage to fit a lot in. People come here when they are having a bad day because their phone stopped working or they dropped it on the pavement. We see a lot of old Nokia models that people just refuse to give up on. The counter is usually covered in little screws and specialized tools. We have a small waiting area with a few chairs, but it fills up fast on Saturday mornings. The light in the back room is very bright so we can see the tiny circuits. We listen to the radio while we work to keep the energy up. Malleshwaram is always buzzing, and you can hear the flower sellers outside sometimes. We don't use big words to explain what's wrong; we just tell you if it can be fixed or if it’s time for a new battery. It gets a bit hot in the afternoons when the sun hits the front door, but we have a fan that keeps things moving. We’ve got a logbook where we track every device that comes through the door. It’s a lot of repetitive work, clicking parts together and testing buttons. Most of us have been repairing electronics for years, so it’s second nature by now. We try to be honest about how long a repair will take because we know people hate being without their phones for long.
