Naveen Mandi

Kalasipalyam is a pretty hectic place to have a business, especially on the main road. We are right in the thick of it at Naveen Mandi. Every morning starts way before the sun is even up because that is when the trucks come in. It is loud and there is a lot of shouting and moving boxes around. My back usually hurts by noon but you get used to it after a few years. We handle a lot of produce and it depends on the season what we have the most of. Some days it is onions, other days it is green chilies. The floor is usually a bit damp and there are always empty crates stacked up in the corners. We don’t have any fancy displays or anything like that. We just put the stuff out and people come to buy it. It’s a lot of the same faces every day, mostly guys who have their own small stalls or restaurants nearby. Sometimes the traffic on Kalasipalyam Main Road is so bad that the deliveries are late, and then everyone is stressed out. But then things quiet down in the afternoon and we get a chance to sit for a bit. It’s not an easy job and the dust gets everywhere. We just try to get the crates moved and make sure we don’t have too much stuff left over at the end of the day. Working at Naveen Mandi keeps us on our toes.
