Nataraj Leather Crafts

Our shop is at 175 A in Nazarathpet, over in Prakash Nagar. We work with leather here, making various things by hand. It’s not a big factory or anything like that, just a workshop where we spend most of our day. The smell of leather is the first thing you notice when you walk in, and it’s a smell we’ve grown to love over the years. We have rolls of different hides stacked in the corners and tools spread out over the workbenches. It can get a bit messy with all the scraps and offcuts on the floor, but that’s just how it is when you’re cutting and stitching all day. We’ve been in this spot for a long time, and the locals know where to find us if they need a belt fixed or a custom bag made. We don't have a fancy showroom with glass cases. Most of our work is done to order, or we just sell what we’ve finished making that week. Sometimes the light in here isn't the best, so we move our work tables closer to the door to catch the afternoon sun. We don't use big machines for everything; a lot of it is still done with simple hand tools because that’s how we learned the craft. It's a slow process, but we aren't in any rush to become a huge company. We just like making things that last for years. If you come by, you will see us busy at work.
