Deepam Interiors

Our place, Deepam Interiors, is located over at No. 71 on 15th Cross in Rv Nagar. It’s part of the Kalidas Layout in Srinagar, which is pretty close to Mysore Road and the Gopalan Mall. Actually, we are right opposite Girias. It’s a busy area with a lot of cars and people moving toward the mall. Inside, things are usually a bit of a mess with wood samples and catalogs spread across the tables. We spend a lot of time looking at measurements and trying to figure out how things will fit together. It’s not a polished studio. There’s usually some sawdust on the floor and the smell of glue in the air. We keep a lot of material samples in the back, though it’s getting harder to find things lately because the piles keep growing. Most of our day is spent either on the phone or sketching things out on scraps of paper. It gets quite hot in the afternoons, so we keep the door open to get some air from the street. The noise from Mysore Road is always there in the background. We’ve been working out of this spot for a good while now. It’s a practical space for what we do. People drop in because they saw our sign while going to Girias or the mall. We just talk to them about what they need and show them what we’ve got on hand. It’s a straightforward way to run a business.
