Mukul Steels is tucked away at 20/2 Kalasipalyam New Extention on the 25th Cross. Dealing with steel means our yard is always full of heavy beams and rods that need moving. Kalasipalyam is a very crowded area and getting a truck in and out of the 25th Cross can be a real headache sometimes. We have been working in this locality for years and we know the rhythms of the market pretty well. The ground is usually covered in some kind of metal dust and the air smells like iron. It is a tough environment but we have gotten used to the physical nature of the work. We spend a lot of time checking the inventory and making sure the weights are right before anything leaves the gate. Our office is just a small cabin at the corner of the lot where we keep the ledgers and a few chairs for visitors. It’s not the kind of place you come to if you’re looking for air conditioning or soft carpets. Most of our day is spent outside or under the tin roof when it starts to pour. We have a loyal group of workers who have been lifting these heavy loads for a long time. They know how to handle the material safely without much fuss. We just focus on getting the steel to where it needs to go without making things more complicated than they are.
