Chickpet is a maze if you don't know your way around. We are on Bellary Road, at 217/4. At Mukesh Key Chains, we deal with thousands of tiny things every day. Key chains of every shape, little rings, and small metal bits are everywhere. The shop is small, so we hang a lot of things from the ceiling and the walls. It’s a bit of a squeeze when more than three people come in at once. The noise from the street is constant—horns, people shouting, and the sound of carts being pushed over the stones. It’s hot in the summer, but we have a small cooler that helps a little. I’ve been working with keys and chains for a long time. My fingers are calloused from opening the metal rings all day. People come from all over the city because Chickpet is known for having everything. We don't have a fancy counter, just a glass case that's seen better days. I spend a lot of time sorting through bins to find a specific color or style that someone wants. It’s a lot of looking at small details. When the day ends, I’m usually tired of looking at shiny things. We just lock up the shutters and head home like everyone else on this busy road. It’s just a small business in a very crowded part of town. It’s a lot of patience to find that one specific ring. Sometimes I have to squint to see the small marks.
