We are located at 217/4 on the road heading toward Bellary, right in the heart of the Chickpet area. It’s a very crowded part of town, always packed with shoppers and vendors pushing carts through the narrow lanes. My shop, Mukesh Key Chains, is small, but it’s full of key chains of every variety you can think of. I’ve got them hanging from the walls and sitting in little plastic tubs on the floor. It started out as just a small thing and turned into this full-time job for me. I spend a lot of my time organizing the stock because things get mixed up when people are browsing through the bins. Some people want something simple for their house keys, while others are looking for something bright for their bags. I see hundreds of people pass by every day. Chickpet has a certain energy that you don't find elsewhere, even if it is a bit overwhelming sometimes. I usually sit on a small stool near the entrance so I can talk to anyone who stops by. The rain sometimes leaks a bit near the door when it’s heavy, so I have to move the boxes back. It’s just me here most of the time, making sure the displays look okay and talking to the regular suppliers who bring in new designs. It’s a humble business, but it keeps me busy from morning until late evening when things finally quiet down.
