Ms Perforators

Being located near the Bangalore GPO at Topi Wala Chawl means there is never a quiet moment around here. The machines at Ms Perforators make a lot of noise anyway, so the traffic outside doesn't bother us much. We spend most of our hours just punching holes in metal sheets and making sure everything lines up like it should. It is dusty work and your hands are almost always covered in a bit of oil or grit by lunch. The building is old, like most things in this part of town, but it stays cool enough in the shade. We don't spend money on fancy signs or shiny floors because that doesn't help us get the jobs done. Usually, the floor is covered in small metal circles that we have to sweep up at the end of every day. It’s just us doing what needs to be done for whoever walks through the door with a piece of steel. We’ve got a couple of old fans that struggle in the summer heat, but we get by. Some days are slow and we just sit by the entrance watching the people go towards the post office. Other days, the orders pile up and we are here until the sun goes down. It is just a regular shop where we work hard and hope the machines don't act up.
